A new business survey has been launched by the City of Lethbridge to better understand the goals, challenges and needs of local businesses.
Insights will be gathered from business owners and managers about their experiences operating in Lethbridge. Results from the survey will help inform the City’s ongoing strategies and programs to support business growth, retention and expansion.
To support this initiative, the City has engaged Deloitte LLP to facilitate the survey and assess the current business climate in Lethbridge.
“Understanding the needs and aspirations of our local business community is essential to building a resilient and thriving economy,” says Darrell Mathews, chief financial officer. “This survey is a valuable opportunity for business leaders to share their perspectives and help shape the City’s approach to economic development.”
Businesses will be selected at random by phone or email between now and July 18.
If your business is not randomly selected, but you’re interested in contributing your insights, you can still take part in the business survey.
Voluntary participation is welcomed, and businesses can take part here.
The survey will include questions about the economic front faced by Lethbridge business owners, any pressures, challenges and opportunities, Mathews notes.
“There’s a number of different pieces of work going on right now, where that information can be taken into account,” notes Mathews. “We’re currently working on our MCC development, which is with Lethbridge and District Exhibition. Council’s also working on the economic development strategy, so it’ll be a part of that.”
The City also continues to work with Tourism Lethbridge, Economic Development Lethbridge and on development-based incentives.
Council is taking a really active role in developing an economic development strategy, Mathews adds. “So understanding business needs and desires is very important.”
