Southern Alberta MP to co-chair Conservative Opioid Crisis Working Group

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Foothills MP John Barlow says he’s taking a holistic and compassionate look at opioid addiction across Canada as co-chair of a new Conservative Opioid Crisis Working Group.

He’s taking on this effort alongside colleague Todd Doherty, the MP for Cariboo-Prince George in BC.

Barlow points out in a recent post on his website that the group is currently gathering insight from other MPs to identify what mental health and addiction resources are available and also where gaps need to be addressed.

Prevention, enforcement, harm reduction, intervention and recovery are all key parts of finding a solution, according to Barlow.

The southern Alberta MP is also aiming to build a solid framework to get drug dealers off the streets and offer addicts tangible pathways to successful recovery.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
