TABER, AB – A man from Coaldale is facing charges after Taber Police say a woman was held against her will.

The incident happened last Saturday night (Jan. 23).

Taber Police say they received a 911 call from a frantic woman. The investigation has revealed she had met up with a man she knew and got into his vehicle.

However, once inside the woman said the man produced a handgun, threatened to hurt himself and also threatened to crash the vehicle. She convinced him to stop at a store where she was able to escape and call police.

36 year old Daniel Robert Conine is facing charges of forcible confinement and uttering threats. He was scheduled to appear in court on January 26.

Taber Police say the gun recovered turned out to be a replica BB handgun.
