Raymond man to serve 60 days in jail for historic sex crimes

A Raymond man convicted in a historic sex crimes case has been handed a 60 day jail sentence, which he will serve on weekends.

He will also serve a year of probation upon completion of the jail term.

A judge found the 50-year old guilty of three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault in March. He cannot be named since the offences happened when he was a teen in the 1980s.

The man testified during his trial that he did, in fact, touch three of the victims inappropriately, but denied that an assault against a fourth victim took place.

The man has a second, two-week long trial scheduled in November on four counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
