Attempted murder trial wraps up in provincial court in Lethbridge

An attempted murder trial coming to an end Tuesday (June 11) in Lethbridge Provincial Court.

The judge alone trial began in late May for 33 year old Robert John Sheppard, who was charged last year with several firearms, assault and resisting a peace officer offences.

It’s alleged that he fired several shots into a west side home in what police say was a targeted incident against his former girlfriend.

Sheppard’s lawyer admitting in his closing arguments that the Crown has proved most of the charges except for attempted murder, noting it’s possible that his client only intended to scare or injure the woman.

The trial judge is expected to give his verdict on June 28th.
