Several new COVID cases reported at Lethbridge schools

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Both school divisions in Lethbridge are reporting several new cases of COVID-19.

On Saturday evening, the Lethbridge School Division confirmed two new cases at Ecole Nicholas Sheran, a second case at Mike Mountain Horse Elementary, and two new cases at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School.

In letters to each school community, the district says the Medical Officer of Health has started an investigation and that Public Health staff are working to determine who may have been exposed to the virus during its infectious period.

In the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division, there were four new cases of COVID-19 reported on Friday – three at St. Teresa of Calcutta and one at St. Francis Junior High.

On Saturday, one new case was confirmed at St. Teresa of Calcutta.

There are currently ten active cases within that district (2 at Ecole St. Mary, 3 at St. Francis, 5 at St. Teresa of Calcutta) requiring the isolation of 260 staff and students.

*UPDATE: on Sunday evening, one more case of COVID-19 was confirmed at Mike Mountain Horse Elementary, for a total of three active cases at that school.
