Three people are dead following a crash south of Vulcan late Wednesday afternoon (June 19).

It happened around 5:30 pm on Highway 23.

Vulcan RCMP say a truck with two people inside was travelling southbound on Highway 23 when it crossed the centre line and slammed into an oncoming semi.

The pick-up then collided with another truck that was following the semi.

A 45 year old man who was a passenger in the southbound truck died at the scene. The 22 year old man who was driving died a short time later in Calgary hospital.

Mounties say both men were from Lethbridge.

The driver of the other truck, a 64 year old man from Vulcan, was pronounced dead at scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Vulcan RCMP are still investigating.

The names of those killed will not be released.
