First significant snowfall of the season set this weekend for southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – After weeks of warm and windy weather, we’re about to get our first real taste of winter here in southern Alberta.

Snow and much colder temperatures are in the forecast across the region this weekend.

Environment Canada says Lethbridge and area can expect to see around 10 cm between Friday night and throughout the day Saturday.

In fact, many regions from Calgary south could see snowfall in that 10-15 cm range, so if you’re travelling around Saturday you may have to adjust for changing conditions. Places in the southwest could see 15-20 cm.

Temperatures will be a lot colder too. The extended forecast is indicating most days will be close to or below zero for the next while with Sunday and Monday in the -10°C range for day time highs.
