Three people charged in poaching incident south of Pincher Creek

PINCHER CREEK, AB – Three people are facing charges in relation to a poaching incident near Pincher Creek earlier this fall.

On Oct. 30, an antlered elk was shot and left on private property.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife made a public appeal for information saying the occupants of a pick up truck encountered a herd of elk on Kerr Road.

A passenger fired at the animals while they were crossing the road onto private land.

According to enforcement officers, it’s against the law for a person who has killed or is in possession of a game bird or big game animal, other than a mountain lion or bear, to abandon, destroy or allow any of its flesh to become unfit for human consumption.

Fish and Wildlife say a call from a member of the public led them to three suspects who are now set to appear in court in March.
