Wind WARNING for much of southern Alberta, including Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Very strong wind is expected to hammer parts of southwest Alberta once again.

Environment Canada says these potentially damaging winds are expected on Saturday.

Strong winds, with gusts up to 120 km/h, will develop overnight Friday into Saturday morning. These strong gusts will persist through the day on Saturday, easing overnight or early Sunday morning.

The warning originally covered Waterton Park, the Crowsnest Pass, and Pincher Creek but was extended late Friday afternoon to include Lethbridge, Taber, Milk River, Okotoks, Brooks, Strathmore, Vulcan, High River, Claresholm, Cardston, Fort Macleod and Magrath.

Environment Canada says strong winds, gusting up to 110 km/h, will develop Saturday morning and will persist through the day, before easing on Saturday night.

This strong wind is forecast ahead of what’s expected to be a significant cooling trend across southern Alberta by the middle of next week.
