Proposed regional rail service could link Lethbridge with other Alberta cities

ST. ALBERT, AB – An Airdrie-based company is proposing a new regional passenger rail service linking a number of Alberta communities.

An article published in the St. Albert Gazette, says Alberta Regional Rail Inc. indicates it envisions linking Edmonton and Calgary along with other municipalities including Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray.

The article also quotes a news release from Alberta Regional Rail stating that a rail system incorporating passenger rail removes cars and congestion along the QE2 freeway.

The company feels this rail service could be up and running in as little as three years time with funding through a public-private partnership.
