Lethbridge Police investigate another random attack on local senior

A 32-year old Lethbridge woman has been charged with assault causing bodily harm after allegedly attacking a senior in front of his home.

Lethbridge Police say a 64-year old man was tending to his front yard at his home along Dieppe Boulevard South on Wednesday (July 3) around 4:50 p.m., when an unknown woman began yelling at him.

As she approached, the man told her he was going to call 911. The suspect then hit him in the face with an unknown object as he lifted the phone to his ear. She left the area and entered a home down the street.

Police and EMS found the man bleeding with significant injuries to his face. He suffered a badly broken nose and cheekbone, and remains in hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Ashlee Brooke Pederson, 32, is currently in custody. The victim and accused are not known to each other.

This incident is the third random attack on a local senior citizen within the last month and a half.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
