Road closure in place for Street Machine cruise

The main event of Lethbridge’s 41st annual Street Machine Weekend is all set for Friday night (July 12).

In order to make way for the parade-style cruise, the City says 3 Avenue South will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday (July 12) between 4 Street South and Mayor Magrath Drive. Parking will not be permitted along 3 Avenue South. You’re encouraged to use Scenic Drive or Mayor Magrath Drive as alternate routes.

Lethbridge Police also remind those participating in Street Machine Weekend that all the regular rules still apply.

In past years, LPS say there have been challenges in regard to stunting, speeding, distracted and impaired driving following the cruise. Spectators are also reminded that consuming liquor outside of licenced beer gardens or liquor establishments is strictly prohibited.

As a precaution, LPS and Alberta Sheriffs will have additional resources on duty.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
