Associate Minister of Mental Health meets with Lethbridge Mayor, Council

The Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions is in Lethbridge for a full day of meetings.

Jason Luan, along with Premier Jason Kenney, drew fire from the opposition NDP last month after announcing a funding freeze for supervised consumption sites.

Luan says he met with the Mayor and members of Lethbridge City Council to discuss ways the two levels of government could work together to address the ongoing drug crisis.

He says “money alone can’t solve the problem. It has to be the will and the power of community and community stakeholders, community partners, that come to the table, come with creative solutions that meet the local need.”

Luan says he also met with local businesses and heard “loud and strong ” about some of the negative impacts of Lethbridge’s supervised consumption site.
