The Lethbridge Interfaith Food Bank has been included in the Charity Intelligence top 10 Canadian Food Banks list for the second year in a row. The list show off the most impactful charity organizations and is measured with a social return on investment framework.
“Interfaith Food Bank has always been about empowering — not enabling — those who request our assistance,” says Danielle McIntyre, executive director of the Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge. “By offering a hand-up, not just a hand-out, our programs and services help those we serve to move past the food bank line-up.
Charity Intelligence is an organization that researches Canadian charities for donors, with a goal of helping people understand where their money goes and how it is used. It reviews and rates over 800 charities in the country and provides in-depth reporting on sectors such as homelessness, cancer research and the environment.
“To be recognized by Charity Intelligence as a top impact charity is a true honour and speaks to the efforts that go into ensuring that not only are we accountable, transparent and good stewards of the donations that we receive, but that we are actually having an impact on the community we serve,” McIntyre said.
