New West’s ‘Blockbuster’ to have a little something for everyone

Take in the sights, sounds, and comedy starting next week for New West Theatre’s Blockbuster.

According to Blockbuster director, Graham Renyk, the show is a take on some favourite blockbuster songs with some sketch comedy tossed in.

“We’re kinda riffing off this title blockbuster so there’ll be a little bit of stuff related to movies, but then were also thinking blockbuster artists, and then we’ve gone back through the archives to pull a few old chestnuts that are kinda blockbuster-y I guess and we’ve dusted some stuff off from the vault that hasn’t seen in a long, long time,” says Renyk.

long with discussing the new show, Renyk also mentioned the ‘Save Our Stage‘ fundraising that currently happening to help keep New West Theatre’s doors open in the new year. The company has raised close to $30,000 of its $150,000 goal.

“Well the target goal is $150,000 and we’re already up to $30,000 almost, which is amazing only about two and half weeks into the campaign. People can give as much or as little as they want, $25 and more does get you a tax receipt,” adds Renyk.

New West Theatre has also made it a point to let residents know that there are some scammers out there trying to get more money for tickets. The only place to purchase tickets for any of their shows is by contacting the ticket office at the Yates Theatre or ENMAX Centre or enmaxcentre.ca.

Blockbuster will be playing at the Yates Theatre from December 14 to 31.
