Southern Alberta man charged in Trans-Canada Highway hit and run

A southern Alberta man is facing charges in relation to a hit and run on the Trans-Canada Highway last week.

On the evening of July 8th, a westbound cyclist was hit by a vehicle and left on the side of the road until another motorist came upon him and called 911.

He was air-lifted to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Redcliff RCMP say 34 year old Daniel Leger of Medicine Hat has been charged with Failing to Stop After an Accident which resulted in Bodily Harm.

The charge carries with it the potential for a fine up to $1000 and 14 years in jail or both.

Mounties say a search warrant earlier this week lead to the seizure of the suspect vehicle as well.
