Coaldale pool closed for the rest of summer; free shuttle to Stirling pool being offered

Coaldale Council has decided the town’s pool will remain closed this summer, but other plans are now in place with the Village of Stirling.
The pool was closed last weekend when crews attempted to fix the filtration system during a routine inspection, but found it was too cracked for a spot repair to be effective.
Mayor Kim Craig says the rebuild at the 47-year old pool was cancelled due to the timeline, cost and complexity. “Council felt that it was not wise to just have a knee-jerk reaction and expedite repairs that could potentially cost hundreds of thousands of dollars just for the sake of salvaging one or two weeks of the swimming season.”
The Mayor adds that the community will be consulted on how best to move forward, which could include investing in a brand new indoor pool.
In the meantime, Coaldale residents can take advantage of a free shuttle service to the Stirling pool. The bus leaves at 1 p.m. from the Coaldale pool parking lot Monday to Friday, from July 29 to the end of August.
Full details of the shuttle program and further pool updates will be available on the Town of Coaldale website
