All Aboard: Model Railway Club opens doors to public

The Southern Alberta Model Railway Club is opening the doors to their clubhouse March 18th and 19th.

Club Superintendent Simon Apperloo says the two day event gives the Lethbridge based group the opportunity not only to share the work they do but share the hobby as a whole with others. Those who walk through the Gyro Park location will see extensive layouts along with the different locomotives the club has, roughly 50 NO and 20 N scale locomotives, which have been collected and put together decades.

“What people will see here is 50 years worth of stuff. The oldest part is 50 years old, the newest part is still under construction,” Apperloo says.

Apperloo says for those who are unable to attend the open house but are interested in learning more about the the Southern Alberta Model Railway Club can come to the meetings at the Gyro Park location on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.

The open house runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
