Lethbridge Municipal Census takers ready to hit the streets Saturday

Starting Saturday, April 1st, the 2023 Municipal Census will be taking place, and no it’s not an April Fool’s joke.

Residents will be receiving a white card at their doors which will contain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that is used to complete the census online.

It doesn’t matter if you’re completing the census online or at the door, there will be three questions: the number of people living at the address, what the ages are and the sex. All of this information will be confidential and secure.

All city census workers will be wearing photo ID and are delivering these white cards between April 1st to 4th, and census will be available online on Saturday.

Starting Wednesday, April 5th, city census taker will be going door-to-door to community members who have yet to completed their online census.

If residents will be gone from April 1st to 23rd, contact the city at 403-320-3030 with census information.

The last census was done in 2019 so this is an important thing for community members to participate in. It helps to provide accurate population counts as well as helping to understand immediate and future needs, plans for recreational spaces, community facilities, road maintenance, emergency services, and to assess growth and service targets.

The census numbers for 2023 will be released in mid-June.
