2nd annual Rita’s Run looking to raise awareness, funds for mental health initiatives

Help support mental health next month with the 2nd Annual Rita’s Run on May 13th.

Co-hosted by Kinetic Indoor Cycle & Fitness and the Real Estate Centre, Rita’s Run is in memory of Team Leader Sandra Asuchak’s sister who lost her battle with mental illness in June 2002.

The first run took place in May 2019 and raised $17,500 for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Lethbridge. The following year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the run was held virtually. This years marks it’s triumphant return to in-person.

The run will be taking place along the Elks compound, and unlike other run’s, involves zero hills. There is also a 5k and 10k option to chose from, with prizes for first, second and third place for both the female and male category.

Community members interested in signing up can do so at Race Roster, and registration can also be done the morning of the event. The goal is to get 300 participants, and at the time of publication, 293 people have signed up in support.

The run is open to all ages, is stroller friendly and starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 13th.
