Committee recommends council harmonize school and playground zones

School zones and playground zones in Lethbridge could soon be the same.

The final decision will go to city council after the civic works standing policy committee a carried a motion recommending the change.

Currently, school zones are in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and the proposed change would turn them into regular playground zones. This would mean all 30 km/h zone would be in effect from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. every day.

If the recommendation is approved, the changes would go into effect in the third quarter of 2023.
