Trial cancelled for man accused of stealing horses

A trial scheduled for a former southern Alberta man accused of stealing two horses and selling them to a local slaughter house will not be going ahead.

Wayne Jubb had pleaded not guilty to all charges against him a few months ago and was scheduled to go on trial next Tuesday (July 30), however that’s not going to happen now.

The case, instead will be back in a Lethbridge courtroom on August 15th, when a proposal is expected to be put to a judge.

It’s alleged Jubb took the horses from a property near Stirling in April of last year without the owner knowing, apparently falsified a livestock manifest indicating he was the actual owner, and then sold the animals to a processing facility in Fort Macleod.

He’s facing charges of theft and forgery.
