One man facing charges after drugs and weapons seized from Fort Macleod home

A Fort Macleod resident is facing multiple charges after RCMP seized drugs and weapons from a home.

Fort Macleod RCMP say the search on June 1 resulted in the seizure of five ounces of methamphetamine, three ounces of cocaine, one ounce of fentanyl, eight ounces of suspected psilocybin, 150ml of GHB, six tasers, two sets of brass knuckles and CS gas.

“In April and May 2023, there have been a large amount of opioid related deaths in Southern Alberta.  In response to this, RCMP SAD CRU and the BTPS Drug Task Force teamed up to target fentanyl traffickers in Southern Alberta,” reads a news release from RCMP. “In the last three weeks, SAD CRU and BTPS have arrested and charged three alleged fentanyl traffickers.  RCMP SAD CRU and BTPS will continue its efforts in targeting fentanyl traffickers in Southern Alberta.”

Carl Zehanoviz, 39, is facing charges including multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 21.
