Medicine Hat-based plane crashes near Hanna

No serious injuries after a plane, based out of a flight school in Medicine Hat, crashed just off a runway in south-central Alberta.

Hanna RCMP say the small plane crashed early Tuesday (July 30), around 1:30 am, at the Hanna airport.

The man flying the plane was taken to the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released. He was the only person in the plane when it went down.

The aircraft is operated by Super T Aviation in Medicine Hat. It was sitting about 50 metres off the runway and was expected to be towed away Tuesday afternoon.

The crash is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board.
