There is now expanded hours and more people on the ground working with Lethbridge DOT.
The Diversion Outreach Team (DOT) is operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association and has had established a presence with at-risk individuals in the city since 2015.
The City of Lethbridge says people will see DOT teams out on the street from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm every single day, plus the addition of a second team which will operate from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm from Monday to Friday.
DOT provides outreach and transportation supports for vulnerable people who may be exhibiting symptoms of public intoxication or drug use.
The outreach resource is funded by the city and the expansion to add a second team and extended hours is one of 12 initiatives stemming from the Downtown Clean and Safe Strategy which was approved by City Council in January.
