YWCA Gala raises $140K for community programs, services

The inaugural YWCA Gala raised $140,000 to go towards programs and services in the community.

Cat Champagne, director of external relations with the YWCA Lethbridge & District, says the event was a success thanks to having the support from the community and a lot of people who have supported the YWCA over the years. The funds raised will be going towards programs and services that need it most.

“We try to put the funds in the place that has the most need for us and it all depends, some programs are completely grant funded, some are funded through donations, some are just generally funded through the government of Alberta, and the City of Lethbridge provides funding,” says Champagne.

Champagne adds that this was one of the YWCA’s biggest events and raised the most funds.

The event took place on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, and had more than 400 people in attendance who took part in both a silent and live auction.
