Fast charging station for electric vehicles opens in downtown Lethbridge

Downtown Lethbridge now has a Fast Charging Station for electric vehicles.

It officially opened up next to Chapters at Park Place Mall, just inside the Community Health Building parking lot.

ATCO’s Senior Director of Corporate Development, Asanga Gunatillaka says the goal of the Peaks to Prairies Network is to make sure drivers always have charge stations within a reasonable distance.

He says Lethbridge is a key transit point along the network and hopes the chosen site is convenient for people traveling through the community as well as local residents who need to charge their vehicles.

The DC fast charging station allows a vehicle to charge from 20% to 80% in about half an hour.

There are also four charging stations at the new ATB Centre on the west side, in the YMCA parking lot, but those are slower to charge.
