It’s been 100 years in the community for the Lethbridge Public Library.
Celebrations were held at the downtown branch Wednesday morning to mark the centennial as doors to the facility officially opened back on August 14, 1919.
CEO Terra Plato says the library looked very different back then but it’s always been, and will continue to be, a safe place for people to go to pursue learning and leisure.
As part of its centennial celebrations, the Lethbridge Public Library will be choosing 100 stories submitted by local residents to include in its own version of a time capsule – a bound copy called “Letters for Lethbridge.”
The Lethbridge Public Library has announced Danika Stone as its Writer in Residence. She will be reviewing manuscripts through individual consultations and running a series of workshops throughout the fall.
Community celebrations will also take place Saturday at both the downtown branch of the Lethbridge Public Library and the Crossings Branch on the west side.
