Community Fund spring grant applications open

The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is now accepting grant application for three of its major programs.

The Community Priority Fund is the largest of them and awards more than $500,000 annually through two calls for funding. It will distribute $300,000 this spring to charities and other qualified organizations.

The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life supports projects and initiatives from community organizations committed to sustaining a high quality of life throughout rural Southwestern Alberta. More than $90,000 will be granted this spring for projects that demonstrate or provide innovation, community collaboration, education, or training.

Applications for both the grants are accepted until March 15.

The Youth in Action Grants program aims to empower youth by encouraging collaboration on projects that have positive impacts in the community. Projects must be led by an individual or group 25-years-old or younger. This grant can be applied for until Feb. 29.

“As we move into a new year, we look forward to seeing the different initiatives that people are working on,” said executive director Charleen Davidson. “We know how important these initiatives are to each individual community throughout our region and are proud to be able to provide financial support to groups helping build a vibrant Southwestern Alberta.”

A free grant information session is scheduled for Feb. 6 on Zoom.
