Lethbridge Police have charged 29-year-old Josee Gennifer Beatty, of Lethbridge, with drug trafficking offences after she was located in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl by an officer conducting a proactive bike patrol downtown.
Beatty is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
On Apr. 3, a member of the Downtown Policing Unit was on bike patrol near the Civic Centre field along the 500 block of 11 Street South when he observed a female known to have outstanding warrants.
The woman was arrested on her warrants and during a subsequent search, police located quantities of methamphetamine, pre-packaged doses of fentanyl, loose chunks of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia, including a scale with drug residue and pre-cut packaging, along with more over $300 cash proceeds of crime.
In total, the drugs seized equate to 106 doses of methamphetamine and 44 doses of fentanyl.
Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Beatty was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Apr. 11.
