Lethbridge among the lowest average in latest national rent report

Lethbridge finished 33rd out of 35 cities with the average one-bedroom rental listed at $1,282 a month in March, according to a Rentals.ca national rent report. The listing was a 2.4 per cent increase month-over-month and a 5.9 per cent increase year-over-year.

The average two-bedroom rent was $1,486, which was a 1.5 per cent increase month-over-month and a 7.9 per cent increase year-over-year.

Average asking rents for all property types in Canada increased by 8.8 per cent in March, reaching $2,181. This indicates a moderation from the 10.5 per cent annual increase recorded in February. Rents saw a 0.6 per cent month-over-month decrease in March, partly due to seasonal factors and a recent slowdown in rental demand in Canada’s most expensive markets.

Key Messages in the Alberta market also reported Calgary finishing 23rd – as the average one-bedroom rental was $1,707, which was a decrease month-over-month, while the average two-bedroom rental was $2,101, which was an increase month-over-month.
