The theme for this year’s Whoop-Up Days Parade has been released and applications to take part in the annual event are being accepted.
According to the Lethbridge and District Exhibition, this year’s parade theme is “Grow Up Western,” with floats encouraged to represent what that means. Â The Tuesday, August 20th parade is the official kick-off to the annual event each year and is an opportunity for different groups to showcase their interpretation of the “essence of Western culture and spirit that runs deep within those who call this area home.”
According to the LDE announcement “Whether clad in denim and boots or donning a suit and tie, the values of hard work, independence, and community permeate every facet of life.”
Groups that can apply to be in this year’s parade include different businesses, local community groups and non-profit organizations, bands and dignitaries such as politicians.
The parade route will start at Park Place Mall again this year and travel 3rd Avenue South, 13th Street North and will end at Galbraith Elementary School. The parade is set to kick off at 9 a.m. on August 20th.
