An all-time attendance record was set for Whoop Up Days this year.
When the annual fair wrapped up Saturday night, attendance was 3.3 per cent higher than the previous record year of 2017.
It was also 20 per cent higher than last year’s turnout.
Chief Operating Officer, Mike Warkentin, says Exhibition Park had the vision to make Whoop Up Days a bigger, tourism driven event, adding “the success of the StageEX Music Festival really speaks to the investment in entertainment.”
Officials say the StageEX Music Festival drew thousands of people from all over with multiple Visit Lethbridge Stay-and-Play packages filling local hotels.
Online ticketing also appears to be a major success , representing 33 per cent of total ticket volume.
Chief Executive Officer, Rudy Friesen, says “2019 represented a major step in a direction we’ve been moving since 2017. Early indications are that this direction continues to be a positive one.”
