Celebrity guests, voice actors, artists, cosplayers and more will be under one roof at the Lethbridge Entertainment and Collector Expo later this month.
According to organizer Brendan Barclay, the inaugural event will feature cosplay contests, autograph signings and selfies with celebs.
“We’re expecting about 10,000 attendees this year,” notes Barclay. “We just want it to be a fun family-friendly event for everybody to enjoy.”
Barclay adds the event is something everybody can enjoy. “There’s so many different things for so many different people.”
Attendees, Barclay says, can dress up in cosplay, they can find comic books they like and, “people can go hang out with friends and go meet different celebrities.”
In the summer, Lethbridge has a lot of events and things to do, says Barclay. “Whoop-Up Days is targeted towards teenagers and carnival-type stuff. This will attract anyone from 13 to 65 years old. Anybody can feel included and join in.”
“You bring up stuff from your past and think, ‘oh I used to love this when I was a kid.’ That’s what comic con is all about,” says Barclay.
Guests will include Leslie David Baker, Charles Baker, Brendan Hunter and D.C. Douglas.
Leslie David Baker is well-known for playing “Stanley Hudson” on the hit television series “The Office.” Charles Baker is best known for his role as “Skinny Pete” from the TV blockbuster “Breaking Bad.” Hunter is an anime, video game and cartoon voice actor, well-known for “Dragon Ball.” Douglas’ credits include voice work on the “Resident Evil” franchise and as an actor he appeared on “Z Nation” and “Star Trek: Enterprise.”
The Lethbridge Entertainment and Collector Expo runs May 24-26 at the Agri-food and Trade Centre. For more information visit lethentertainmentexpo.ca.
