UPDATE: Weather advisory ended for Southern Alberta: Environment Canada

UPDATE: Environment Canada has ended the advisory for parts of Southern Alberta. The advisory was ended because the conditions are no longer favourable for producing funnel clouds.

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for parts of southern Alberta as conditions are favourable for a thunderstorm that may produce funnel clouds.

According to the advisory for the area including Taber, Lethbridge and Milk River, funnel clouds are generated by a weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. In most cases, the weak rotation is not normally a danger near the ground but according to Environment Canada, there is a chance this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.

Should conditions change into the development of landspout tornadoes, watches and warnings will be issued by Environment Canada.
