Coaldale announces partnership for the Shift Community Recreation Centre

A local real estate company will be the name sponsor of the new multi-use recreation centre set to open in Coaldale this summer.

The Town of Coaldale announced the naming right deal with Shift Real Estate earlier this month, with the new facility being known as the Shift Community Recreation Centre. President of Shift Real Estate Mike Davis says being the name sponsor of the new facility aligns with the company’s core values of “community, teamwork, integrity and family.”

“By finalizing this sponsorship agreement, our company is not only investing in Coaldale’s future but also, investing in the health and wellness of Coaldale and area residents for many years to come,” Davis says.

According to the town, the recreation facilities grand opening will be held in conjunction with the 2024 Southern Alberta Summer Games opening ceremonies on Wednesday, July 3rd. The 55,000-square-foot facility is designed for numerous sports, including pickleball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, and badminton. There also will be a fitness centre in the new recreation facility and a daycare which will be run by BGC Lethbridge.

Along with the announcement of the naming sponsorship Shift Real Estate also announced last month the new Malloy Landing development. The new development will be located in the northwest corner of the town of Coaldale and according to a release from the municipality will be made up of residential and multi-family lots. Mayor Jack Van Rijn says that the recreation city will be located in the “heart of Malloy Landing” and will bring people to the area.
