Taber’s St. Mary’s School announces new principal

Taber’s St. Mary’s School has announced Michelle Nevil as its new principal starting in the 2024/2025 school year.

According to the Holy Spirit School Division, Nevil was previously a teacher and associate principal at St. Patrick School in Taber.

With 20 years of educational experience, she taught grades Kindergarten to Grade 5 for seven years before taking on the administrative role.

“Michelle comes to St. Mary School with a wealth of experience in teaching and school-based administration,” says Superintendent Ken Sampson. “Her commitment to students and staff will serve her well in the coming years, as lead learner at St. Mary School.”

Nevil adds she is excited to join the school’s community. “I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, making new connections with staff and students and learning about the inner workings of both junior and senior high school.”

Nevil enjoys ranching, reading and coaching, having coached many teams throughout her career including basketball and Thunder Athletics. She is the proud mother of three young men and looks forward to becoming a grandparent in the coming months. She hopes to continue to coach sports in the community and looks forward to what the future will hold at St. Mary’s School.
