Bulls season home opener June 5 at Spitz Stadium

Baseball is back! It’s the start of the Western Canadian Baseball League season, as the Lethbridge Bulls play their first game in Okotoks Saturday.

On June 5, the Bulls play their first home game, commemorating their 25th anniversary season at Spitz Stadium. Today, players and coaches were at Spitz Stadium for a meet and greet with fans and a public practice.

Starting pitcher Cole Alguire says the team has some new players this season and a few returning players from previous years. “The returners look good. Everybody’s bigger and everybody looks stronger. It should be a good year.”

According to Alguire, the team will be starting off on the road, but will be a little short staffed. “It’s going to be a little bit of a fight at the start, but we have confidence in ourselves and confidence in the guys we have. I’m sure we’ll do great.”

As for being ready to kick-off the new season, Alguire says Bulls coaching staff is good at organizing and making sure what players are ready for what playing days. “Myself, as a starting pitcher, I’ll go one game and we’ll have a couple of other starters lined up.”

Alguire adds last year was a pretty good season for the second-year player. “I’m excited to do even better.”
