Lethbridge & District Exhibition 50/50 Lottery to benefit Lethbridge Family Services

Winner, winner chicken dinner! The Lethbridge and District Exhibition 50/50 Lottery begins its third year. The lottery is now open and runs until the end of Whoop-Up Days. This year, proceeds from the program will benefit LDE programming and Lethbridge Family Services.

Created to celebrate LDE’s 125th anniversary, the lotteries program celebrates LDE’s rich history in the community. Last year, the program raised more than $84,000, with 50 per cent of the total proceeds going to the lottery winner and the other 50 per cent going to support community initiatives.

“For over 125 years, LDE has been a part of this community. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the lottery grow exponentially and we expect that will happen again,” says Paul Kingsmith, director of LDE Community Engagement. “The 50/50 Lottery is a key connection point in our community, as we are able to support our programming, give back to our community partner and give ticket buyers the chance to win big.”

Lethbridge Family Services CEO Sandra Mintz adds through initiatives like the 50/50 lottery, LFS receives direct funds raised for important LFS programs, which includes the Angel Tree initiative and the organization’s immigrant services department.

“Forming partnerships with local organizations, businesses and institutions is essential for non-profits. These collaborations pool resources and expertise, making community projects more successful and impactful. We believe supporting each other strengthens the community fabric and significantly enhances our community’s wellbeing,” says Mintz.

LFS volunteers will be on-site to sell tickets at the Saturday Lethbridge Farmers’ Market every Saturday through Aug. 17, as well as throughout Whoop-Up Days. Tickets are also available online at ldelotteries.com and will be available through Aug. 24, the final day of Whoop-Up Days. The winner will be selected Aug. 27.
