Downtown Farmers’ Market starts up this week in Festival Square

A summer staple returns to Lethbridge this week.

Lethbridge & District Exhibition and the Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) are bringing the Downtown Lethbridge Farmers’ Market, presented by 94.1 CJOC, back to Festival Square.

The market will be each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting July 3 and ongoing until September 4.

The market is free to attend. Officials note that the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market is the city’s only Alberta-approved farmers’ market. This means at least 80 per cent of products are made, baked or grown in Alberta.

We’re grateful for our partnership with Downtown Lethbridge BRZ, which allows us to bring the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market into the heart of our city,” says Paul Kingsmith, Director of Community Engagement for Lethbridge & District Exhibition.

“Connecting with downtown shoppers is an important part of supporting our community and this market is a great opportunity to support amazing local vendors.”

Sarah Amies, Executive Director for the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ says the market is an all-around win.

“Downtown workers, residents, and visitors have ease of access mid-week to stock up on fresh produce, baked goods, arts, and crafts, and are introduced [to] an awareness of the value of our regional agricultural sector,” she remarks,

The Saturday farmers’ market is underway, after opening in early June. It takes place at the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre every Saturday until October 12.

More on the farmers’ markets is available at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition website.
