Police investigate fatal Highway 3 crash

A 44-year-old BC woman has died following the collision between an SUV and bus on Highway 3 Wednesday night.

According to the RCMP, members from the Crowsnest Pass detachment responded to the collision near Range Road 25 around 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, July 17th. The highway was closed for several hours overnight Wednesday, while emergency crews responded to the incident.

According to police, the initial investigation showed the SUV crossed the center lane colliding head-on with the bus.

The driver of the SUV, who is from Fernie, BC, was declared deceased at the scene. Six of the 27 passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries and two were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the collision.
