Update provided on Whoop-Up Drive bridge rehabilitation project

Crews in Lethbridge have been working this summer on a Whoop-Up Drive bridge rehabilitation project. Work is happening on the westbound portion of the crossing.

MyLethbridgeNow asked the City of Lethbridge for an update on the project.

Officials say crews are working “to ensure a smooth transition from the bridge to the road by determining the most suitable alignment and paving strategy”.

The City notes the strategy will be finalized on Monday, August 12.

The contractor has submitted different options for this work. Once the strategy is finalized, a paving schedule will be decided on. Paving is anticipated to take up to two weeks to finish, and lane closures will stay in effect during this part of the project.

This means traffic may continue to be slow-going for a bit longer on Whoop-Up Drive. The City thanks the community for its patience and understanding as work is completed.

Further updates on the project will be available via the City’s interactive WebMap.
