CCHS principal recipient of the ‘Share the Mission Award’

Catholic Central High School Principal Joanne Polec is the 2023/2024 recipient of the “Share the Mission Award.”

The Holy Spirit School Division and its Board of Trustees says the award is intended to honour those who have offered outstanding or long-term service, accepted demanding challenges and set new standards for others to follow, demonstrated involvement and leadership in community organizations and reflected the school division’s mission statement.

Nominators noted Polec’s dedication to her school, students and staff and her service to the community.

Polec’s history with the school division began as a student throughout her grade school career. She began her teaching career at Catholic Central High School in 1999, where she wore many hats before being named principal in 2017.

According to the school division, Polec has put thousands of hours into serving the CCH community, as well as the Lethbridge community over the years. This includes countless hours spent with student council and coaching volleyball and badminton.

“Share the Mission Award” Committee Chair Tom Machacek says Polec shines brightly in the school division. “I admire the way this year’s recipient performs much of her leadership through the example she sets for others.”
