Provincial crop report showing harvest in Alberta ahead of five, 10-year average

Roughly 20 per cent of all crops in the province have been combined.

That’s according to the latest Alberta Crop Report, issued on August 27, 2024.

The report notes that 20 per cent is eight per cent ahead of the five-year average and 10 per cent ahead of the 10-year average.

Another nine per cent of crops are currently being swathed, with 70 per cent still standing. The report states that among all crops, harvest progress is furthest along for winter wheat, with 94 per cent complete. That is followed by fall rye at 93 per cent, dry peas at 73 per cent and 59 per cent for lentils across Alberta.

The south region has seen 38 per cent crops combined, eight per cent ahead of the five-year average. The south includes Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Strathmore and Foremost.

The central region followed at 25 per cent complete, the Peace region at 11, northwest at seven and northeast at six per cent.

The full report, along with past reports, is available through the Government of Alberta website.
