The number of people unemployed in the economic region which includes Lethbridge saw a slight uptick in August.
According to Statistics Canada in August 5.4 per cent of people were unemployed in the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat region, which is up 0.2 per cent from July. However, compared to the same month in 2023 the unemployment rate in the area is down nearly a percentage.
The provincial unemployment saw a 0.6 per cent bump, at 7.7 per cent. Camrose – Drumheller region reported the lowest unemployment rate at 4.7 per cent, while Edmonton’s unemployment rate was nearly double that at 8.4 per cent.
