Collision claims life of 14-year-old, two others injured

A teenage girl has passed away and two men were taken to hospital with unknown injuries after a collision Tuesday morning.

According to Coaldale RCMP, officers along with other emergency teams were called to the incident at the intersection of Township Road 102 and Range Road 221 in Lethbridge County around 9:40 a.m.

Police say two vehicles were involved in the collision and the 14-year-old girl from Diamond City, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was declared deceased at the scene. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The highway was closed for a good portion of Tuesday as an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, but as of 3:30 p.m., police say it has re-opened for travel. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
