John Middleton-Hope captures UCP nomination for Lethbridge-West 

Lethbridge city councillor John Middleton-Hope has been named the UCP candidate in the riding of Lethbridge-West. 

A by-election will be held to fill the MLA seat vacated by Shannon Phillips in the summer.

Middleton-Hope was selected by members of the constituency on Monday, September 23. He was up against Erin Leclerc and Shauna Gruninger.  

“We would like to congratulate John on his success and gratefully thank Erin Leclerc and Shauna Gruninger for putting their names forward and putting their heart and soul into this process. This is not easy and we expect we will continue to see them continue their community advocacy,” says the United Conservative Party Lethbridge West on Facebook. 

Middleton-Hope will be up against the NDP’s Rob Miyashiro for the position.

A date for the Lethbridge-West by-election has yet to be set, but Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has until January 1, 2025 to do so.
