Lethbridge Police Victim/Witness Services Unit looking for new volunteers

The Lethbridge Police Victim-Witness Services Unit is recruiting volunteers.

Last year, volunteers provided 23,214 hours of emotional and practical support to those who needed help navigating their personal lives and the justice system after experiencing or witnessing crime or tragedy.

The program has been operating in Lethbridge since 1991.

If you’re interested in learning more about becoming a Crisis Support Worker, VSU will be hosting an information session next week.

It runs Wednesday, September 25th at 7pm at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization on 5th avenue and 11th street south.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, complete an application form, undergo a criminal record check and reference checks, hold a valid driver’s licence, be willing to commit to the program uninterrupted for two years and participate in job shadowing. Applicants will also undergo an interview before being accepted into the training program.

For more information, contact VSU Manager Darcie James at 403-330-5023.
