The performing arts are being celebrated at the University of Lethbridge (U of L) with the launch of the 2024-25 Faculty of Fine Arts Signature Events and Performance Series.
This includes the Drama Alumni Mainstage Season, which invites several alumni back to the U of L to direct and assist on four different productions, along with some music concerts and exhibitions in both art and new media.
The first event in the 2024-25 Signature Events Series is the Mainstage production of alterNatives. The play comes from the mind of Indigenous playwright Drew Hayden Taylor. It is set against the backdrop of a dinner party and balances humour and poignant social commentary, delivering a different perspective on what it means to be Indigenous in today’s world. Performances will be put on starting Monday, October 7 through to Friday, October 11, with shows happening nightly at 7:30 p.m. in the David Spinks Theatre.
The play is directed by U of L alumni Marshall Vielle, with David Smith handling set, props and the lighting design, and alumni Jolane Houle in charge of the costume design.
Tickets for alterNatives can be purchased online or at the U of L box office, located in the UCA Atrium from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
